[SOLVED] I want to upgrade the CPU in my Dell Optiplex 380 PC

I want to upgrade the CPU in my Dell Optiplex 380 PC. On a Dell website I saw that it said that a Core 2 Quad Q9650 is the best I can upgrade to. Is this the best choice, or should I go for something different? I just want to stop the lagging that my computer has. I don't game but I do use two monitors. My Graphics card is a GeForce GT 710.
I currently have the Intel Core 2 Duo E7500 @ 2.93GHz in my computer. Should I spend the little bit extra for the Core 2 Quad Q9650 or would something like the Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550 2.83GHz Quad-Core (AT80569PJ073N) Processor, for half the price, be alright?
I'm not sure what the difference would be between the three. Could someone please help me with this?

First, if you don't want the hassle of upgrading a motherboard you should choose a Core 2 Extreme Q9650 for best performance
Second, is your power supply powerful enough for a new CPU? Use a PSU Calculator to figure out.
Third, the Core 2 Extreme Q9560 is the best for LGA 775 socket though it is already becoming obsolete.
