I have 2x16gb corsair vengeance at 2133mhz. I used to run stable overclocking at 3000mhz just by changing the multiplier at BIOS. At that time, I had a i5 6600k @ 4.6ghz and a Gigabyte z170xp-sli mother board. Now I have a i7 8700k stock and ASUS PRIME Z370-A, but I can only get stable performance (no blue screens) at 2700mhz. Reasons why?

Solution
Possible unstable voltage at higher frequency on Ram. Your old motherboard may have had better Ram voltage control. Might want to increase your voltage to your ram in your bios settings.
