I was asked to help a friend with a flickering display...

Hey all

My friend asked me to help fix a mild flickering display in his computer.
Upon closer inspection, I noticed there were no screws in the expansion card slots
Could that possibly let the card wiggle loose and flicker a bit?

Also
What kind of screws should I get, since honestly it would be nice to have some handy anyways.

Solution
Depending on the case, it may be designed not to use screws. Those will often have some sort of pressure bar over the expansion slots. But assuming its designed to use them, and your friend decided to forgo using them, they're #6-32 screws. You can get them in various sized packs, thumbscrews or normal.

If you don't have any screws and get asked to help out with stuff like this, getting an assorted kit like this isn't a bad idea.

It's possible that the video card came loose, and you can try reseating it to see if that fixes the problem. Flickering most likely comes from a loose or bad cable though.

As for the screws, just go to newegg and search for case screws. You want the standard hex head Phillips screws, which look to be #6-32 screws.
