OP, enjoy your new computer. It should be very solid and although it can be fun and rewarding to build your own, it's also very nice to have Dell's standard next-day onsite service when something goes wrong.

Of course, you are posting this on an enthusiast forum; naturally you should expect a lot of flack from the hardcore do-it-yourself crowd.

Adobe Premiere Elements Photoshop Elements is a great package for anyone who wants to start editing video at home. You can find the combo package under $100 sometimes, $150 typically. That's a great value to throw in for free on Dell's part.

That system is a good deal for an XPS. It's no enthusiast rig, but neither is it the dog some are making it out to be. It's those people still buying the latest greatest prebuilt $1000+ with Pentium D from Best Buy et al who are getting reamed. You made out well.

You are right that you can't add your own cooler, but the unit is far from a stock Intel cooler. I own a Dell Precision 390 with Q6600. The cooler is a tower cooler built surrounded by a custom housing with a large 120mm an added to the front of the housing unit. The air flow is fantastic and feels close to room temperature

The reason I posted this here is to shake it up a little bit on this forum. I have built a computer before in the past ( 5 years ago) and really enjoyed the experience and loved my rig. I was going to build another one, but then this deal came along. ALso had to weigh in the time that I have now saved and will spend with my wife, kid and work.

I think people should now there are non-enthusiast options out there with there cost and time advantages.
