"I was thinking like $700 for a 27' or bigger"

So I waste most of my time at my computer, which means my friends assume I know something about them and their peripherals (I don't).

Anyway, my buddy asks me to find him a new monitor: "i was thinking like $700 for a 27' or bigger."

My only caveat is that he'll want to play games on it sometimes, so I'm almost thinking a TN/TFT would be best to avoid ghosting.

I browsed across these on newegg, finding very little options in that size range:

Didn't seem like much of a selection at newegg tbh, and evidently he's willing to spend more for quality than what I have posted. I just don't want to see him spend way more for incredible color and poor FPS game performance. I play games on a Samsung 740B TFT from '06 and it's good enough for me.

We might just go look at what they have on display at Fry's.

You guys have any advice? What are the fastest non-TNs? Links would be great. THANKS.

It's a bit smaller than what he was thinking, but the same resolution as the 27 inchers, and a phenomenal deal right now for an S-PVA panel.
