I was trying to get my ripjaws V to the advertised 3333mhz speed but my motherboard wouldn't let me, I think...

I built a computer over the summer and I bought this G.SKILL Ripjaws V Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) 288-Pin DDR4 SDRAM DDR4 3333 (PC4 26600) Intel Z170 Platform, the motherboard I went with was the MSI X99A SLI Plus LGA 2011-3 ATX because I had limited options, since I bought my motherboard and cpu from microcenter
my specs are
i7 6800k
gtx 1070 msi gaming(not gaming x)
1 x 240gb(operating system) pny cs1311
1 x 960gb OCZ tr150
1 x 3TB
1 x lepa lpwac240-HF aquachanger 240
1 x evga 850 GQ 80+ gold
and the ram stated above (2x8gb 288pin ddr4 3333mhz 16-16-16-36)

so when i try to overclock it it doesn't let me reach 3333mhz. I can reach 3200mhz with no trouble(it goes to 2133 or 2400 unless I change some settings in the bios)
I try using OC engine, which takes me up to 3333mhz but also screws with my cpu clock speed, which would be fine but then the OS doesn't load, so I have to reset settings.
I can get it to 3200mhz and I can overclock my i7 6800k up to about 4.0-4.2ghz(I leave it at stock and OC in increments when I need more power)
but I can't seem to be able to get my ram speed up to 3333 mhz.
I'm sorry it sounds like I'm a newb, I haven't built a pc with an msi motherboard, ever. I always used asus and it was much easier to overclock my ram and cpu. So my question is what settings would I use to be able to OC my ram to 3333mhz and still be able to overclock my cpu decently?

foot note - 1. When running XMP at DDR4 3200Mhz or higher, system stability depends on the CPU’s capabilities

then no g-skill was tested at 3333 not to say it wount work , but ?

then with these ddr4 memory seems to take a lot of bios updating to keep up with them ?/

be sure you got the latest bios that calls out ''- Improved memory compatibility''

anyway between 3200 and 3333 you will not see a bit if difference out side of just a number if your fully stable at that 3200 maybe all you can do so it could be worse as well set the memory xmp and let her fly [opinion]

weather msi ,asus ,who ever may not make a difference if the cpu -bios what ever the case may be you may still of only find you can only get 3200 out of it this is where some luck of the draw may be in play or your going to need to do a lot moer manual fine tuning in the bios to achieve that ..

thing is any overclocking is your own risk and nothing is guaranteed
