i was watching a dvd on my laptop just an hour back,i removed it for some time now when i put it back,it cant open,any cd i insert in the laptop cannot open,the laptop doesn't even show that there is a CD inside, please someone help

does the drive still showup in "my computer"?

Okay first try removing the cd by using a paper clip on the CD drive itself. Then try removing the cd drive and putting it back in. On laptops this is usually simply a matter of flicking a switch on the bottom of the laptop and sliding the dvd player out then back in. Make sure the laptop is off and remove the battery before doing this though!

Scar73, never seen a switch that held a drive in place just a screw. I've scrapped lots of laptops & never seen a switch except for the battery.

Trust me some laptops have a spring switch. (My old Acer Travelmate 6410 uses a spring and switch to lock the drive in place no screws).

But i would also go to device manager to see if the cd drive shows up there.
