Hi,

In the next month i was thinking about building a little server.

First of all i have few parts already: Case,PSU,Ram.

I was thinking about a G3258 with a little oc to run little Minecraft/Gmod servers.
The biggest one i think i'll run is an Ark Server idk if it would be enough for 3 or 4 connected at the same time on Ark...

So the parts im thinking to buy:

G3258,
Cheapest 1150 mb,
WD 1Tb HDD...
16Gb of Ram(this go in my main rig and my actual ram go in server)

Is this good or not?

Thanks

Solution
Based on https://www.reddit.com/r/playark/comments/3t5byo/dedicated_server_requirements/ and other threads, a G3258 should be fine for only 3-4 connections. If an A8-3850 is fine for 10 users, then the G3258 should also support that many.
Well for HDD its better to have more space maybe i'll load like 5-6 servers of each games(they will not run at the same time) and maybe i'll watch movies with it so i'll need space.

I will wait for more advices but probably in two weeks i'll buy that.

Thanks for your answer :)

Idk why it say solved but its not just saw this today while waiting for answer do you think i could OC the G3258 with H81 MB and Aftermarket cooler?
I was thinking to put my Gammax 400 on it and take a 212 evo for my main computer.

Or i juste take normal G3250 normal cooler and no oc?

What would be better

With a good 7200 RPM HDD, the bottleneck will most likely be the Gigabit LAN.

Generally, it's best to run servers and NASs at stock speeds. Data intergrity and uptime > performance, especially in this case as for your use the clients will do the bulk of the processing.
