I win..My very first video card was an 8 mb nvidia vanta lol, and I was playing cs with it, it was painful. Then I got the geforce 4 Ti-4200 which I think was the best videocard ever created for the time and money.

Nvidia Vanta---> Ti-4200 ----> Fx 5200 ------> fx 5700 ulra ----> ati 850pro :)

I agree, Ti4200 was the best card for value/performance/longevity. So much so that I am still using mine right now.

Still not sure what you won tho...

Bunch of noobs. I remember getting my first CGA adapter. That let me play Bard's Tale... in black & white. You needed EGA for color. A year later a friend of mine had OMFG a VGA computer! We could play King's Quest!

Wait, are you saying that if I dig out my old CGA system (Hm it must have been a 286), I wouldn't be able to use my modern monitor with it? Man that sucks, it even had a math co-processor.

While we are on the topic of old graphic cards, does anyone know this graphic card I'm about to describe?

-Large
-2 fans and heatsinks on 2 different chipsets (no clue what they are, look like the graphics processor, but 2??)
-old
-has a few chips around the two main chipsets (most likely memory)
-single analog output (standart crt monitor connector)
-no molex or external power connectors
-agp
- I think its an old voodoo, but I'm not sure

The card is hidden away somewere in a small box, so that description is from memory and might not be totaly accurate, and I can't find it yet, so I cant plug it into a pc to see what card it is.

This card is just really wierd because of the two heatsinks, only seems logical that both have the be the processors since it doesnt make sense to cool only one memory chip. On top of that, this card is old, and I was under the impression that having two graphics processors on one card was a new thing.

If you can give a logical explanation I would be very happy, This has bugged me for a long time.

Thanks in advance

LOL, dual-chip graphics cards have been around a long, long time. Other than professional rendering cards (which can have several chips) there's the ATI Rage Furry and several VooDoo models. As to which required a fan, well, I'm not looking it up and I can't remember.

I think my first card was a CGA color ISA card, I was able to get 16 colors. Not to sure if it was for the comador or tandy. I think it was the tandy tsr80.
