Hello. I'm doing some research for upgrading my CPU.
Currently I have an I3-2350m (sandy bridge) pga988 CPU, on asus x44h with k84l motherboard.
On the socket it says pga988. (I opened it for cleaning/changing thermal paste earlier)
I want to buy an i7 cpu.
I have found on ebay some i7-cpus.
http://ark.intel.com/products/53464/Intel-Core-i7-2640M-Processor-4M-Cache-up-to-3_50-GHz
http://ark.intel.com/products/71458/Intel-Core-i7-3632QM-Processor-6M-Cache-up-to-3_20-GHz - rPGA 22 nm

I have learned that it has to have same Llthography (32nm) and same TDP (35w).
I'd be intreasted in some other(or better) suggestions.

I have checked with cpu-z, and it says rPGA 988b. That means it G2 socket.
But I can't actually find the difference between ppga988, fppga988 and pga988, and that those are compatibile and if it shoud work, if I make the upgrade, or if I risk to break anything.
I cant seem to find any precedents because my laptop seems to be some limited edition, and it's not very popular.

May I get some advices please?
(sorry for my english, it's not my native language)

Only BGA socketed chips are soldered. Their CPU is not BGA. OP, looking at your model of notebook, there wasn't and i7 option, so the bios might not have the necessary support for what you want.

Bios version is 209. From asus. There's an upgrade, but.. it's working just fine with this bios version. And honestly I'm a bit afraid to do a bios upgrade since, I don't have dual bios motherboard.
Anyway. The CPU works just fine.
I choose this CPU, because it was the best CPU that I could find with same lithiography ,and same TDP.
Temps are about the same.
