I3-3220 and GTX 660

Would I be able to run battlefield 3 and record at the same time using fraps using an I3?

edit: or will i need an I5 which has more cores?

You can but better with I5.

Battlefiel 3 needs quad core and most games uses 4cores.intel i5 will be also be future proof.if you can effort then simply get i5 quad core.

i3 is for normal, i5 for gaming, i7 is for extreme use.
