I'm going to be buying a budget gaming PC, but I don't know if I should get one or the other.
I'm aware that the i3 is much better in single thread programs and such, but is it worth getting it? As a gaming PC, wouldn't I be able to already game really well with an x4 750k?
I'll be using a Radeon 7850 in my build, and was wondering if I could just get the x4 750k, and save £20 for a second monitor I'm buying, as I don't believe it'll affect my PC performance that much.

What do you think? I3 4130 or x4 750k? I'll be playing BF4 and such, and the £20 save can help buy the second monitor.

Yes the FX 6300 is a better option than the i3 for the same price. The Athlon x4 760k is worth the extra $10 over the x4 750k.

Between the two you listed, overall performance is very similar despite the i3 having half the cores. But the Athlon is a better value IMO considering it's overclocking potential.

I also believe there a better options within the Pentium family around that price like the g3220.

Without keyboard, mouse, monitor and case (Already bought all of that) I have about £390 budget.
The parts I've chosen:
CPU: i3 4130
Mobo: asus h81m-plus
Gpu: sapphire hd7850 1Gb (currently £104 on amazon, very cheap and it's very good)
Psu: Evga 500B 500w 80+ bronze
Os: Windows 7 pro (£53 on amazon)
Hdd: seagate barracuda 500Gb (will get another 1TB in the future)
RAM: kingston hyperX red 4GB 1333mhz (will get 16Gb(2x8Gb) in future)
All adds up to £388 but the ~£20 I can save from the CPU and mobo (would have to change both) could help for saving up to buy other components in the future. I can't spend anything over £390 as the other money I have is going into editing programs, music programs and games.

You could get a much more potent build from ebuyer.
AMD FX-6300 3.5GHz Socket AM3+ 14MB Cache Retail Boxed Processor £83.72
Kingston 4GB DDR3 1600MHz HyperX Blu Memory Module CL9 1.7-1.9V £30.78
PowerColor R9 270 2GB GDDR5 DVI HDMI DisplayPort PCI-E Graphics card £128.00
Gigabyte GA-970A-DS3P Socket AM3+ 7.1 Channel Audio ATX Motherboard £59.10
Seagate 500GB 3.5" SATA-III 6Gb/s Barracuda Hard Drive 7200RPM 16MB Cache £37.98

Total £339.59 plus the windows operating system from amazon.
