What do you guys think? as stated above is it a good pair? i cant go i3 skylake because i already have 1600mhz ram so it save me a buck.

It's a very good pair. You'll be playing Battlefield 1 on Ultra settings very well at 1080p. CPU usage will be 70% to the mid 90's depending on what's happening in the game. The Core i3 4170 can handle it. To set aside any doubts I'll show how my Core i7 4770k does with 2 cores with hyperthreading enabled running at an even lower core clock than the Core i3 4170. Just wait for the video. It's going to be using a GTX 1080.

I've built a friend a system with an i3 4170 and GTX 1070 and he has no issues with any games.

Battlefield 1 beta has major issues with all cores maxed out, don't forget that it is a beta, the same CPU/GPU play BF4 flawlessly at ultra settings.

Wait for BF1 to release properly and optimized before deciding to throw out your CPU.
