Hello,

Could you please help me to decide which one is better, considering also the price, for a home use (not gaming) pc?

Saw some comparisons, including this one (http://www.cpu-world.com/Compare/417/Intel_Core_i3_i3-4170_vs_Intel_Core_i5_i5-4440.html), that says the differences are minimal.

TY

Solution
i5-4440 = 4 cores 4 threads 6mb of cache 3.1-3.3Ghz
i3-4170 = 2 cores 4 threads 3mb of cache 3.7Ghz

Per core the i3 is actually faster. The greater amount of cache on the i5 will be an advantage for predictive memory needs, so less RAM/Harddrive access. The i3 is hyperthreaded, so can still do 4 nearly simultaneous tasks like the i5.

i3-6100 has the same basic stats as the i3-4170, however the onboard GPU is much larger and faster. This may come in handy for video playback over time. Not really a noticeable difference right now.

I agree with you :) I dont see ''home use'' :) i3 better for home use but i think i3 6100 better than other i3 CPU. If your mainboard support Skylake CPUs you should buy a i3 6100 or i5 6400.

even a g3258 is allot for that get this one if you want to save a few more bucks

this is basically an i3 without a feature called Hyperthreading for home usage the worst case cenario would be listening to music while playing a high quality movie and having powerpoint running with an antivirus scan in the background and some downloading and a bunch of chrome tabs open this CPU handles all that like a breeze and I have this one and would get this over an i3 especially in your case.
