i3 4170 to i5 or gtx 750 ti to gtx 960

I want to upgrade as i have a money on me but i cant decide which should i go.
should i upgrade the processor or gpu first?

my current build is
i3 4170
8gb ram
750 ti
1tb hdd
seasonic s12 520w

which would give me more fps?
i mainly play fps games, open world games, and online games.

any suggestions would be very much appereciated. 😀

Why are you considering a GTX 960? Unless you know of some really cheap used 960s, there are much better cards for better prices such as RX 470, RX 480, GTX 1060, I think even the GTX 1050 Ti is a better choice than the GTX 960, not that the 960 is bad, but bad in price.

The GPU will give you more fps.

The i3 is quite strong for games that use 2-4 threads (most), BUT the 960 isn't a very good card. For an worthwhile upgrade, you should be looking for a used 970 or GTX 1060/RX 480.

960 and 1050 ti are priced the same. i thought that i would gain more performance from 960. can i get away from using an i3 in playing latest games?

I'm assuming you are at 1080p resolution. The 750 Ti was a good entry level GPU...two years ago. So I think the biggest improvement would be the videocard. I would not buy a GTX 960 new unless you can get a really good deal. Around here it's make more sense to buy the 1050 Ti. However, in your case I would not even buy the 1050 Ti. I'd get a 3gb 1060 or 4gb RX 470 at the least. A used 970 would also be good. The 1050 Ti is just not enough of an upgrade imo and neither is the 960.

yeah im at 1080p resolution i wanna play gta V, battlefield and far cry at a reasonable detail at 60fps stable.
somebody told me that my processor will bottleneck 1060 or rx r70 so the only upgrade i can go is 960 or 1050 ti.

my budget is around 170$ here in ph.
