Im have a i3 6100 and a GTX 960 will upgrade to a I7 6700k and GTX 1070 in 5 months so should I get a 2560x1440 60 Hz monitor or just a 1920x1080

Locked processor to unlocked processor? Do you have/planning to get a Z170 mobo as well? If not, i7-6700 (non K) is probably a better choice.

But to answer your question, 1070+i7 should be able to drive a 1440p monitor handily.

Depends if you want Ultra settings and 60fps? If yes then stick with 1080p if you are ok with lowering settings to stay above 60fps then 1440p is good to go.

According to all the 1080 benchmarks that have been published even it can't handle full settings and average over 60fps at 1440p.

Yeah with everything on max inc. things like Hairworks in Witcher 3 I just don't see it "in real gameplay" honestly staying above 60fps... sure it might be close but as newer games come out things are gonna be pushed even harder. So if it's barely doing it now on some key games I don't see it being cool even 6 months from now.

But with a 1080p 27" Gsync monitor you are pretty much guaranteed at least 60fps with max settings moving forward for a good amount of time. Personally, I'd rather have 1080p with AA and all the bells and whistles than 1440p and lower settings, but that's just me of course. :)

Yeah, I'd agree with you there. Resolution matters surprisingly little after a point, and it's more about the bells and whistles.
