Hello,

I'm currently wanting to overclock a core i3 6100 in an Asrock Z170 Pro4 motherboard. Regarding the 'DDR4 OC' option that Asrock have stated, Samsung and Kingston memory may summon a hidden overclocking option. Will using another brand of memory, i.e. G.Skill reduce the overclocking potential/ability of the CPU? Assuming the same speed memory is used in either brand.

Thanks,
Andy.

CPU and RAM overclocking are independent of each other. You can't overclock a CPU that isn't "unlocked". If the numbers are followed by a 'k', then they are able to be pushed past their stock overclocks. For example, my processor is the i7-4790k, meaning I can overclock it as far as I want assuming that I have sufficient cooling and a mobo that can support the required voltage.
