i3 6100 vs i3 3220 upgrading

Hi guys i have a pentium g2020 with gtx 750 ti and i want to upgrade my cpu what should i do upgrade it to i3 3220 or buying new motherborad and i3 6100 ( Asus H110M-K D3 )

The i3 6100 would have slightly better multi core performance although the single core performance is virtually the same as the i3 3220, so if you want slightly better multi core performance go for the Intel core i3 6100 although the i3 3220 is better value overall as you don't need to spend money on a new motherboard

Your G2020 dual core has a passmark rating of 2783 and a single thread rating of 1544.
A I3-3220 will be 4209/1761.
Such an upgrade should be inexpensive and reasonably effective if you can buy used.

A I3-6100 has a rating of 5500/2102.
If your games are sims, mmo, or strategy games, I would go with the stronger chip.

For the price of the i3-6100 + motherboard, why not go for something like an i5-3470/3570? Strong single thread performance + 4 REAL cores + you won't have to buy a new motherboard.
