i3-6100 with GTX970 or i5-6500 with GTX960/R9 380?

So I am doing my first build soon, and was wondering what would be the best way to do it.

This is what I am planning to get:
CPU: Intel Core i3-6100 3.7GHz Dual-Core Processor
Motherboard: ASRock H170M Pro4S Micro ATX LGA1151 Motherboard
Memory: Kingston HyperX Fury Black 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR4-2133 Memory
Video Card: MSI GeForce GTX 970 4GB Twin Frozr V Video Card

So my question was whether it is better to upgrade my processor to an i5-6500, and, as my budget dictates, downgrade my graphics card to a GTX960/R9 380.

This will be a gaming rig, I won't be doing any video editing (in the near future).

Thanks!

go the i3 and 970 simply because you will be on skylake then and the 970 ABSOLUTELY smashes the 960 / 380, and being on skylake means if needed you can upgrade the cpu VERY easy in the future, plenty of games will be fine with the 6100, only cpu intensive games MIGHT suffer, but test this for yourself, don't get the i5 + a lower end card

There aren't any benchmarks on it yet so I wouldn't be so quick to say that... But honestly, get the 480 if you are willing to wait. If you're choice is a 380 on the lower end of pricing for cards--the 480 fills that 200-210 price gap. Wait for a 480, get the 480. The 480 in some leaked benches says it performs as well as/better than a 980. But, again, wait for ACTUAL benchmarks. Regardless if those benches are true or not though, want to spend $200 for a card that comes close to a 980/is absolutely better than a 970? Or pay the $300 to $450 for a 970/980? imo that's a no brainer.

But, also as said above. If you aren't willing to wait, just based off of those builds you had set up, i3 w/ 970. Imo, that would be a mistake given that in a week or two you can get an i5 + 480 for the same price tag and better performance.

Agree with Genthug here....
Do not settle for anything less than a quad core cpu, and would highly recommend the 470 or 480 due to low price of $150(470)/199(480 4gb)/229(480 8gb).
You will not regret the wait, which releases in 4 days on June 29th
