Question i3 6100 with z270 vs i5 7500 with B250

Dear community

i have 2 cpus' i3 6100 and i5 7500
also have two mobo's z270 and b250

the plan was to build a mining rig with i3 6100 + z270 combo
however this combo did not load, just black screen

i then decided to test if z270 mobo is the fault. I took i5 7500 that i know works, put it into z270 mobo and it booted into bios. all good.
i then took i3 6100 put it into b250.. and it also booted.

ie. both mobos work with i5 7500
however in case of i3 6100 it works with b250 but not with z270..

what is wrong and how can i make i3 work with z270?
