I3-8100 or i5-8400?

I have an I3-8100 I got on sale 3 months ago. It is paired with a Gtx 970. I am wondering if the i3 is good or I should have spent $100 more for the i5. People around the web say it is worth more but that the I3 is ok.

Those people also say u need to have a gtx 1080TI.

Well you already have the i3 and presumably can't return it, asking whether you should have got the i5 seems kind of pointless unless you have a time machine. If you're asking if you should upgrade to the i5 now, I'd first ask whether you're having any issues with the performance of the i3. If it's performing satisfactorily, I see no reason to upgrade.
