i3 8100 RAM requirements

So, I am building a PC this Summer and I struggle to find the best suitable RAM. In the future I am going to upgrade it so I am going with 8gb of RAM (for now). The motherboard has 4 slots for RAM sticks though can the i3 use all of them or just the 2 of them as in their site it states 2 channels of RAM(I’m not sure what is this)?
Also shall I go with a single 8gb stick or 2x4gb sticks? The higher I will go with RAM I think will be like 16GB.

No, 8gb is pretty much the minimum nowadays and having the room to upgrade to 16gb would be good when you can afford it.

Are you a serious gamer and also how many GB of Ram do you use? Just so I can see because it is my first build and and I don’t know much about building

Well I game 4+ hours a day so I think I game a bit. I have 16gb (usually around 10gb usage) but I don't use nearly as much, some for games and the rest for my browser and Netflix as I'm running a ultra wide screen and a 1080P monitor (spec link in sig), also have Oculus Touch VR.

I do have a friend who has a older system and can game with 4gb but he's cheap and refuses to buy more lol.

And that reminds me I need to update my PCP link as I bought that new monitor yesterday.

That will be enough as long as your not running a lot of stuff in the background with your games.

Try to get the 1050 ti if you can, not only is the performance better but you'll have the additional 2gb of vram.

Right now no GPU is worth the price as everything is way overpriced currently, I'm not sure why, maybe low inventory?
