Hi there! I just have a few questions about my latest build.

#1 I know people are saying the i3 8350k is terrible value but I just purchased one for 140$ Does that makeup for the “poor” value?

#2 I have not put the pc together yet, I purchased a ASUS z370 strix-H board, I’ve seen complaints about its power delivery will I likely have issues?

#3 my previous cpu was a i5 3570k I cooled it with an H100i and it idled at about 38c and under load at around 60-65c, are those good temps? And what can I expect from coffee lake?

#4 I baught some Geil DDR4 RGB 2400mhz I believe it’s a 2 x 4 gb set, is that enough for coffee lake? And is Geil a good brand?

#5 I baught a 120gb nvm.e drive for my boot and for one or two games, how much better is nvme than standard 2.5’ sata ssds?

#6 I have a gtx 1080, will this cpu and ram choice serve me well?

Thanks for your answers!

1. $140 is a pretty good deal. At that price range though ryzen may have been better, but the i3 will do you more than fine.

2. I wouldn't think so no. Even if it does have sub par power delivery ( I'm no expert on this) it a unlikely to show up on a low power i3.

3. Those are fine temps. I'd say expect a little cooler at idle but probably hotter at full load, especially without a delid.

4. Geil are a good company, no worries. 8gb is the minimum you would want for gaming. 16gb would definitely be better, especially with a 1080.

5. Nvme drives are usually faster than sata ssds, but you'd probably be hard pressed to tell the difference when using the system, unless you're doing raid and hammering the drive with reads/writes.

I3 8350K is overclockable quad, very close to the 7th gen 7600K so it is quite reasonable at MSRP compared to locked 6th and 7th gen I5 and at $140 You got a great deal. Unlike the 7th gen I3 7350K two core four thread for $180 MSRP. Though I did find I3 7350K at Microcenter for $139 and got a $19 z170 mortar a year ago.

I think you want the i5 6core/6thread 8600k to get the most out of that 1080 considering the bump from i3 2/4 i5 4/4 and i7 4/8
