Hi guys, I am building a new gaming pc and was wondering if I should go for the i3 8350k or the i5 7500. I was going to pair the i5 with the Asus b250g motherboard. However, many people have said it would be better to get the i3 as it is faster and has the same amount of cores, I was going to pair it with a z370 motherboard. Finally, if I do the get the i3, which z370 board would you guys recommend, the price isn't, much of a problem. What do you guys think? Thanks for the help.

Solution
The stock 8350K is appreciably faster than the 7400. Something on the order of 30%. It would be the better buy. As for the Z370 board to pair it with, just get the least expensive one from a reputable brand that does everything you want it to. Personally, I'm fond of Gigabyte and MSI boards. However, I don't have enough knowledge on the parts to suggest a specific model to you.

Just to throw this out there, for the price of the i3, you could have a ryzen 2400g. Not quite as fast on gaming, but if you do multitasking and streaming, it would beat the i3. If you were spending 25-30 dollars more, then I'd look at the ryzen 2600 6 core 12 thread CPU.

Not that there i3 won't be a fine chip, just saying depending what your usage and for what you're spending, might be worth a look.
