I'm building a new system with the i3 8350K. I chose the i3 8350K over the i5 8400 since I only play CSGO. So my question is; will an i3 8350K overclocked to 4.8 GHz perform on par with the i7 7700K overclocked at the same speed? We're really only talking about CSGO here. The game that performs better on higher clock speeds rather than more cores. So theoretically they should perform the same, right?

Solution
I wouldn't say it will perform on par with the i7 7700k overclocked, but it will be very close. I honestly had never looked into the 8350k before this morning, but from what I can see, they're very similar FPS-wise for CSGO. I found two videos of gameplay, one with a 7700k OC and a 1060, and one with an 8350k OC and a 1060, and they were much more similar than I would have guessed. Like 284 average fps on the 8350k vs 290-300 for the 7700k. I do think that the 7700k will hold the edge over the 8350k, but not by much.
