i3 8th gen vs i5 6th gen

Im looking forward on buying a new system...im really confused in the case of processor ..is an 6th gen i5 better than a 8th gen i3?

8th gen i3. Performance is the same but the 8th gen motherboard gives you better upgrade choices.

I assumed similar clocked CPU's but it does depend on the exact CPU's. The 8350k is much better than a 6400.

8th Gen I3 may be better or on par. Get 8th gen I5-8400

But 8th gen needs Z370 Mb which can support 1-2 gen of Intel CPUs. 6th gen I5, not much upgrade room.
