[SOLVED] I3 9100f or i3 10100f?

Hi Guys,

I want to buy a new processor and motherboard. So i was considering the 9100f and the 10100f and suitable motherboard.

My main consideration is fps in gaming. But i have a few caveats.

1. I own a gtx 970 and i wish to use it with the new system.
2. I will buy 16gb of ram.
3. 9100f is cheaper here.

Currently the 10100f is more expensive than 9100f here in India. Is there a point of me waiting for the 10100f prices to come down especially considering my bottleneck will be the 970? Please advice and thanks in advance.

Definitely not the 9100f. For modern games 4 threads is not enough. The 10100f is at least 4 cores and 8 threads. However is a Ryzen 3600 and B450/B550 motherboard an option? It comes with an acceptable cooler and is a 6 core 12 thread cpu and should last a lot longer.

The ryzen 3600 costs double that of 9100f, I could get i5 9400f for a little more than my budget, so that could be an option. And i have a hyper 212 Evo cpu cooler.

But my main question remains... Won't the gtx 970 bottleneck my system? So, is there a point in buying a better cpu?

It might be held back by the GPU, but that doesn't mean the 9100f won't struggle in many games.

The 10100f and 9400f are similar. I would avoid 9th gen right now due to it being a dead platform.

the 6c12t I5 10400f is $150 and generally less expensive than the 3600 right now. That's my choice. I cant reccomend a quad core or 6 core without HT/SMT right now unless you plan on upgrading it in the near future.

I am in India and I won't get those prices here. And here the 10100f is at the same price as the 9600kf. Latter being easily clockable to 5ghz..

Where are you getting these prices? Don't buy this stuff off Amazon if you're doing that. Try mdcomputers.in, vedantcomputers.com, primeabgb.com

Pretty sure the i5-10400F was 13,500 ish and I3 was 7900 ish
They have much lower prices even accounting for shipping. Only buy from Amazon India if yiu have some bank offer that makes the price equal to the websites I suggested, or lower.

Also, ryzen is a loot everywhere lol

Well, great then! That's what everyone and I would've recommended. But, if you're buying off Amazon, I'd suggest cancel your order, get your money back, and buy from elsewhere. Shipping is slow but it's worth the cash you save especially on the budget

Thanks Prad_Pitt. I have ordered from Amazon, I got it for 8999. Its actually 8300 now. I dint want to cancel it as it will take a long time to ship to me again and i want to get on with my build. I want to start playing before they call me back to office. Also with primeabgb and mdcomputers.in as much as they are reliable, returning is a hassle and i have to rma the products in case of issues. So i am willing to pay the extra price for amazon.
