i3 or i5 (8Th Gen)

Hi guys

I'm looking to build a budget gaming pc because the prices are all over the place right now in the EU

I'm looking to Pair one of these 2 CPU's with a 1050TI and 16gigs of DDR4 2400Mhz

what kind of advantages would i get if i take the i5 8400 over the i3 8100
and would it be wize to use the stock cooler (always used Watercoolers in the past)

quick question about the 1050ti

Is there a difference between a 1050TI with a power connector or without , i dont plan to overclock the card

You would have no problem with the stock cooler.
There is mostly no diference in performance of the 1050 Ti becouse it anyway uses just 75W.
If you plan on gaming you can save some money by getting only 8 GB of Ram as the difference in performance is of only like 5FPS

1st question: Pick the I5 ,trust me ,i have made same mistake ,6 REAL cores will beat will beat i3s 4 cores in most gaming cases.
2nd question:No there is no difference between card with power connector and without.
Only difference is overclockability ,the card with power connector will overclock much better ,but if you wont overclock ,there is no difference.
Also i5 8400 will offer you more futureproofnes

The i5-8400 definatly...6 logical cores, great for gaming and pretty good price. I would stretch your budget to get the 8400. It has been reviewed very well with a high rating especially in gaming. The six cores will also serve you well for the long term.

Take the I3. The 1050 Ti will anyway bottleneck the I5. Plus, the Coffe Lake I3s have 4 physical cores.

get the 8400, it's priced attractively.....; you can always upgrade GPUs later, and get more gains....

A 4c/4t cpu is not the way to start in 2018.....despite a modest GPU.
