Hi guys......i am about to build a pc with a gtx 750 ti for gaming... I am confused between the new skylake i3 6100 and i5 4460... I thought about going with i3 since it was cheaper and had good performance but i want to use this pc for about 7 years or so ..... so i thought that in future games is there a chance that they wouldn't support i3 since it is dual core or would they work fine... So please help as i want to buy a cpu urgently

My main concern is that Will future games support dual core with hyper threading .... so r u sure that i should go with i5

Actually the i3 single core performance is still powerful.

The i3 6100 can get almost similar result as the i5 4430.
The hyper threading on the i3 6100 is what helps it good framerate in games.

The difference is only 1fps and DDR4 ram is expensier than DDR3. I would go with i5 mate, if you could get 4690 would be cool, if not then go for 4460

If you want to go for i3 then I would pick i3 4170 rather than 6100

If you just want better performance, go for the i5-4460 CPU. If you want to have future compatibility to upgrade something, go for Skylake, but I would get a Skylake i5 CPU so I don't have to change anything for the next 4 years when you will probably buy new graphic card, your cpu will be compatible with it tho.

Then go for i5 4460 cpu since you won't upgrade anything and 4460 is faster than 6100. After 7 years there will be pascal gpu out and new intel processors, something that comes after skylake so
