ok so for christmas i gt a budget of £500 so i brought a asus r9 290 with bf4 and because it is on offer a gigabyte z87x oc FORCE so im in a issue where i have a limited budget for the cpu so should i get the i3 4130 or save up double and get the i5 4670k. i will be playing bf3-bf4
and will i be able to overclock the i3 my cooler is an Phanteks CPU Cooler Premium Orange Edition with 2 fans i know i can get a 4.4-4.6ghz overclock on the i5 . and the i3 has hyper threading so i get sort of 4 cores. by the way i had to sell everything that i upgraded so my gpu and cpu cooler got sold to make room for the new ones

Solution
You can't overclock non-K series intel chips.

You don't want to pair an R9-290 with anything less then an i5-4670k / i5-3570k or FX8320/FX8350 really.

If you don't have a complete budget, I would say buy a 990FX chipset motherboard and get a cheap AM3 chip to tide you over until you can afford one of the better ones. Same would almost work for intel, get a Z87 motherboard and the cheapest intel chip you can cram in there and upgrade later.

Or as you say, wait until you have the money.

You will not be able to overclock a non "K" cpu.

For single player BF3/4, the i3 may do the job.
But if you play multiplayer, the cpu becomes very important with large numbers of players.

Tough to be without anything.
Perhaps buy a i3 for the interim and sell it when you have the funds for a 4670K.
I do not much like interim solutions, they cost more in the long run.

Perhaps you can find a 4670K on ebay. Overclockers will buy multiple 4670K chips, and test them looking for a golden sample.
They then market them for whatever they can get. Even a dog chip should do 4.0 or better.

You are looking at single player benchmarks.
once you get to a decent frame rate, like 30-60, you will play reasonably well.
That is appropriate if you will not do multiplayer.

Multiplayer benchmarks with repeatability are so difficult to arrange that you hardly see any.
But... from what little I can find, a strong cpu and many cores are much more important in that arena.
