I3 vs i5 vs Vishera

Im on the last part of my build. I currently have $350 to spend on parts.

So far i have....
EVGA 560ti 2gb
Antec 620w PSU
500gb WD Velociraptor
16gb(4x4) GSkill Ripjaws 1600
DVD Drive

I need:
Case: Around $50
CPU: Up to you
Cooler: If its unlocked
Motherboard: Asrock is my preference
SSD: If it fits in the budget

Give me your advice on which and why.
I was thinking:
FX 6300 w/ Asrock 970 extreme 3
Source 210, Hyper 212 evo
Which leaves $70 for an ssd as well.

Newegg, Amazon, and Tigerdirect only please. Wouldn't mind saving money for Christmas either, so if you can do a good setup for cheaper, Im all ears.

I would love to. In fact, I would go 3770k with the extreme 6. Ive built 3 of them. EXCEPT that your suggestion costs my entire remaining budget. I need a case, and I would get at least a NZXT Havik 140 for that cpu, bc they run hot at stock temps already.

I am on a tight budget.

At stock speeds, for gaming only, yes. But i3 is lacking in a few cores. Keep in mind the FX 4300 and FX 6300 are unlocked, and either one at 4.4 would be a much smarter option than an i3.

Im aware of the performance options of each. Im looking for what people think would be the best option.

I think i5 is out of the question.

In gaming extra threads/cores are still irrelevent for the most part, so if you're simply looking overall raw perofrmance the i3's architecture is better.

Now of course the problem with the i3's are the overclockability of the chips, if you're sure you can reach 4GHz and over with the FX 6300 and it's stable then it might be the better option. As you're spending less (though a 3220 is cheaper) while reaping the performance of near performance of the i3's.

Overall to me the main component to it all is if you reach 4.4GHz with the 6300, cause if so it's plenty for what you do while remaining cheaper then some i3's while getting those extra core as well. Then just spend the rest on the other parts.

4.1 is turbo for that chip. Im very confident i can reach 4.4 with it. I think i might go with it. Ive built too many intel ivy bridge machines lately anyways. Time to change it up.

There are more and more games that are taking advantage of 4 cores so I'm unsure what you are talking about CD. Sure ivy bridge runs hotter but I don't get that its requires a aftermarket heatsink now if you were to overclock that is another story you could get something stronger something from noctua as an example. I'm going to agree with Intel Enthusiast with his suggestion the Extreme 4 is pretty reasonable price point wise as well as the 3570k.

the 8350 is a good value gaming chip. However, after reading something like this I feel safer with a intel solution.

I would get an fx-6300 in your situation, easily. For the most part, the i3 and 6300 will perform about the same. But in some application, the extra threads of the 6300 really shine. I consider the 6300 to be the next best alternative if you can't afford an i5.
