i5 1.6GHz or Core2Duo 2.4GHz?

i found two macbooks

one has an i5 clocked at 1.6GHz

the other one has a Core 2 Duo clocked at 2.4GHz

which one is better? (simply, just based on the speed)

There are a lot of different i5's, but regardless of which model, the i5 will be better by virtue of being newer. DDR3 vs DDR2, smaller process node (better battery life) and higher performance per clock.

I dont know squat about laptops and worse with macs
but ill go with the later model and quad core i5 over the c2d

unless the c2d has rgb then maybe reconsider.. but thats just me

c2d @ 2.4ghz it is!
but tbh.. i wouldnt bother..
arent laptops cheap anyways?
those laptops are 7-8 yrs old no?

The i5 will likely be faster than the C2D. 2c4t vs 2c2t, the C2D has higher clocks but lower performance per clock and lacks hyperthreading.
