2 months ago i built my first pc and i have an i5 10400 with a 1050ti. a few days ago my cpu performance dropped significantly. I initially thought it was a GPU problem but realised these problems only occurred in CPU intensive games like GTA V and csgo i dropped from nearly a 180 fps in CSGO to a mere 50

Solution
CSGO is only "CPU intensive" because people are running it at ridiculously high frame rates for competitive reasons. Even Candy Crush would be "CPU-intensive" if people ran it at 200+fps.

Check your CPU temperature using HWInfo or similar software. My guess is the HSF wasn't installed correctly, came loose and the CPU is now overheating from poor heat transfer.

CPU and other components are not going to drop performance all by themselves. Either something was changed in BIOS or more likely problem with Windows and drivers.
