I have this CPU: i7 4770

I like to edit 4K videos and needless to say this setup is very outdated

Someone suggested that I buy the i5 10400, that it would be a lot better than this old CPU, cost/benefit and so forth

Is this CPU worth? If not, in a similar price range, what would you suggest?

Solution
For performance in editing or apps that can use many threads, look at the passmark performance ratings.
The i7-4770 has a rating of 7032.
https://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu.php?cpu=Intel+Core+i7-4770+@+3.40GHz&id=1907
The i5-10400 is substantially better at 12487:
https://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu.php?cpu=Intel+Core+i5-10400+@+2.90GHz&id=3737

At the same price class, the ryzen 3-3100 would be similar.

I do not think I would go with that cpu.
Better to look at a current gen product like a
5600x which would cost twice as much if you can find one.

You're looking at a whole system rebuild.
CPU/RAM/motherboard.

I know that, unfortunately a lot of stuff needs to be replaced and of course I'll have to ditch RAM/mob when I get rid of the i7 4770.

But what I can't find out so far is if this i5 10400 would be slightly better than my old CPU or light years faster

At the same time I need to know if there is some CPU at a similar price range that would also "beat" this i5 10400 hard, I mean, a lot better and only would cost a little more

Perhaps some i7, I have no idea, that's why I am asking for suggestions.
