Hi, I am looking to get a new PC and have found a good deal for a i5-10600K, is this processor compatible with the ASrock b460 Steel Legend Motherboard, please note I am NOT looking to overclock the processor and will just be using it as it came out the box, if I'm not overclocking will this processor work with the motherboard?

It's compatible no problem. Differences in memory speed though between b460 and z490 if aiming for higher than 2666. i3/5's are IMC limited to 2666, i7/9 at 2933 on b460 whilst z490 is capable of higher regardless of processor.

Thanks for the reply.
Are u sure it will work?
Because I have looked online everywhere and i cant seem to find anyone who is using a 10600K and a b460 motherboard anywhere, I understand that I cannot overclock with this motherboard but just want to make sure it will work as it comes out the box.
Thanks

not many people are using 460 with 10600k cause ram speeds will cap at 2933 and the 460 might limit the 10600k potential. If you don't care about ram speed you can get the 460 otherwise you need 490.

Ram speed is limited by the CPU's memory controller on a non Z board. That is 2666 not 2933 for the i5. i7/i9 processors memory speed is 2933 though.

10600k's turbo will function normally on any motherboard. Manual overclock potential isn't there on a non Z board yes, but that's not what it's all about with an unlocked processor as they're also sold with a higher base clock vs non K variant. In saying that, base clock is irrelevant since processors are rarely sitting still so non K, with same turbo speeds, would make sense if savings were to be had.

thanks for the reply,
what would you say is more beneficial for gaming and FPS in gaming:
1)Either stick with the 10600K and have 16GB of 2666Mhz Ram
2)Or get a Ryzen 3600 and get 16GB of 3200Mhz RAM
What would be better ?
Thanks

I think the specific motherboard he wants has 2933 as max ram speed. I agree nevertheles.

And its just isn't worth it having a 460 with a 10600k because you leave behind ram speed and a basic oc is just so easy. With a z490 A pro or asus P he can save some money too and have a better motherboard at almost everything.
If he wants a 460 and is on a budget he could get 10400f and save tons of meoney
