Hi, I just received an i5 10600KF with MB H410M S2H V3 (Gigabyte). I know they are compatible, but not a good choice at all (I'm a gamer). I made a mistake, so I wil buy in a few weeks a B460M Mortar to correctly exploit my i5 (I don't want to overclock, I get a KF with a good price, that's all, otherwhise i'd get a non-K version). My concern is about the VRMs.

My question is can I use the i5 on the H410 to play games (PUBG) ? Or is there a risk for the VRMs to burn ? I think as they have limited power they can't burn, they 'll just limit the power to my CPU.
I just have to wait a few weeks to get the money to order a decent MB, but I don't want to break something in the meantime. (And of course I can't wait a few weeks to play... I need my drug ^^)

Sry for my english it's not my birth language.
Thx for ur advices. 😉

I don't want t OC the RAM too. And I don't plan to get a new config before at leat 5 years. So B460M is good for my low budget. ^^
OK I'll try to play on the cheap MB but will check the temperatures.
Thx a lot.

Then go with B560. Ram speed matters far more than it used to. Your 10600k, being forced to run at 2666 ram speeds, would be slower, in gaming, than a 3300x, running at 3200. 3200 ram is pretty cheap, these days, also.

Edit: Just saw your post above. I was in the middle of answering, and got pulled away, and didn't check for new replies ahead of time.
Welcome to the forums, newcomer!

You should get a Z490 chipset board if you want to "take advantage" of the processors unlocked option + you should be able to take advantage of higher spec'd rams. The H410 chipset is geared towards office environments and probably HTPC setups so they aren't meant to be paired with a K suffix processor although it's stated that the board supports it...which is still bad advice by motherboard makers to unsuspecting customers.

You could run it, but I'd be looking over my shoulder every now and then - so I'd advise caution and get a better board instead of burning things.

Stock turbo should be fine on 410. Can i suggest z490 instead because won't be able to oc on b460 and ram limited to 2666. If cpu oc isn't part of the plan then you could go b560 so you can run ram above 2666. But there is a drawback using 10th gen on 5xx boards though, losing first m2 slot functionality.

Finally I just ordered the MSI MPG Z490 GAMING PLUS. Got it for 160€. Now I guess I just have to learn to live with only one kidney...
Thx again, u convinced me to get a better board, even if it's a low cost Z490. 😉
I hope u'll get a commission ^^
