Ryzen 7 5800H - since has the better GPU and more RAM capacity (there is little difference between DDR4 and DDR5 currently performance wise).

i5-12500H is the better CPU but assuming this is for gaming too, you'll see the bigger impact by the better GPU and RAM capacity. If this is only for work usage, no gaming, than the i5-12500H is the better CPU for productivity.

Thanks Tecmo. What about buying the intel system and adding extra DDR5 to it down the line - is that a better plan?

Again, it you are buying for gaming, the 3060 has the bigger impact to performance than the 3050.

If it is for work / productivity type actives, the Intel is the way to go and if you can add DDR5 down the line, that makes that choice better.
