[SOLVED] I5 13600k + H610?

Hi All,

I'm currently rocking an i5 12400 with RTX 3080 12GB.
Cooling - BeQuiet DarkRock 4 Pro, case Fractal Design Torrent.

I've just watched reviews of I5 13600k and decided that I want to upgrade. The question I have is if the power delivery of my MOBO will be sufficient for the newer i5? I5 12400 has max TDP of 117W while i5 13600k has max TDP of 181W according to Intel's website.
My MOBO is Gigabyte H610M S2H DDR4 (rev. 1.0) and it handles i5 12400 without an issue. Not even remotely close to throttling under any circumstances, I throw at it. I don't need any more AIO or functionality, it was a conscious pick.

You could probably just set a power limit and call it a day. Not like you will see that 181W very often anyway, that would be fully loading up the CPU. If you are just gaming not going to get anywhere near that.

TBH I'd wait for the i5 13400 / 13400F.

Well you lose 4 E cores doing that. 13500 and 13600 should have 6P 8E according to results on Passmark.

And that 500Mhz might be nice.

The newest bios F20a description says it supports 13gen, although, indeed the supported cpu list, hasn't been updated yet. I got ti clarify that with Gigabyte. Thanks for pointing it out!

It will run with the bios update.
You could try it.
But, the lack of an extra 8 pin power to the motherboard as well as no vrm cooling would indicate that your turbo performance will not be what the processor is capable of.

I have h610ma d4 and i also just game, could i consider the same upgrade? maybe 13400f when it comes out i currently own 12100f so idk if it would be a good upgrade
