Hi, I have had my i5 2400 for one year now, and for the last week, whenever I open or play a game, the temperature shoots to 70 to 85 degrees, and at one point, whilst playing the DayZ Standalone, I hit 98 degrees, so I turned everything off and cleaned it, but to no avail.

Whenever I'm watching youtube videos of listening to music it stays between 40-65 degrees but whenever a game opens, it shoots up. I have cleaned the CPU fan, and case fans deeply but with no results.

Yes get the CM Hyper 212 EVO... If you buy it you do not need to buy an extra aftermarket paste... The paste which comes with Hyper 212 EVO is good... I think that you should get the Hyper 212 EVO ASAP..!! Because keeping your pc in that hot temperature might break down your cpu or shorten its life...

1.Check your case if dust layer has formed, as dust traps heat a lot..

2.Try replacing your Thermal Paste. If you do not have a Thermal Paste get Artic Silver 5.

3.Are you overclocking? If yes then do you have a good cpu cooler or you are overclocking just in a stock cooler?

4.If you are not overclocking check in your bios if accidentally the BIOS hit the overclock profiles..

5.If you have a stock cooler, get an aftermarket cooler, I recommend Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo.

6.Does the system turns off frequently by itself? Do you see a BSOD(Blue screen after which computer turns off)..
