I5 2500 worth it?

So i want to buy i5 with budget $150 so i search and i found it about $140(in my country) but i want to ask you guys is this cpu still worth it?? i mean worth for like 3-5 years i know this is OLD cpu (2nd generation) i want to pair it with gtx 960 or with rx 480 later if i choose this cpu will it bottleneck both of them?

As if right now this is my computer spec

I3-2100
RAM 8GB
ECS mobo LGA 1155 (not sure the type though)
PSU 500 Watt modular

I want to use this pc to play games i dont care about ultra setting and 60 fps as long i have decent fps (40fps) i will happy

A modern i5-6500 would be about 30% faster with support for a few extra instructions and updated IOs. If you do not care much about any of those, then the i5-2500 should still be fine for the foreseeable future even for a 1070.

It's still a good CPU for a socket 1155 motherboard which are hard to find now.

After searching for a long time i found i5-3470 with only $160 should i get this instead?? Or stick with i5-2500

I'd take the 3470. It's about 5% faster per clock, clocked 3% slower, and draws a lot less power.

i5-3470 uses a smaller die and will run cooler. Other than that they will play about the same.
