I5 2500k at 4.3GHz Safe and stable help?

Hello I just got the MSI Z77A-GD65 and overclocked my 2500k to 4.3GHz with a vcore of 1.25 (currently 1.240), ran intels extreme testing and Prime 95, used HWmonitor to measure temps and used CPU-Z to measure volts and multiplier speed. My temps for about 10 minutes with the intel is highest 59c and around 30c when idle. P95 for about an hour and bit is again the same with highest core being 59c and idle lowest 30. How are these temps?

It should be okay as long as you have an aftermarket heat sink, the i5's Ivy or Sandy Bridge are very capable CPU's and I've seen it done before on this CPU (heck, I've seen i5's at 5 Ghz). I just wouldn't recommend going above 4.5 Ghz as it may freeze you BIOS up or cause damage to your CPU. Most seem to get up to 4.4 Ghz, but rarely beyond that. But with Overclocking, nothing is certain.

Yeah my cooler is semi water cooled, similar to the Corsair H60, basically the same, I had an Asus P8P67 and 4.3GHz was fine and stable but intel did it's thing where it would only jump up to 4.3GHz when needed. Funny you say that really since I've looked at some other posts and 4.5GHz seemed fine for most people, even 4.6GHz

Your cooler sounds perfectly capable. And yeah like I said, I've even seen 5.2Ghz!!! But was just stating that 4.5 Ghz seems to be most people safe point Good luck with the overclock

One thing to bare in mind I don't do a lot of gaming so most use will come from using 3D programs such as Maya. Mudbox and Photoshop etc

Those temps are really good. Are you using the stock CPU cooler? One thing I would do to test stability, is run Prime95 for a lot longer than 1 hour. I have seen 2500K's suddenly fail at the 5-6 hour mark that were showing all good temps and no reported errors. They had been OCed a little higher to 4.4 - 4.6. Often going beyond 4.3 - 4.4 can require a small voltage adjustment.

No, Antec Kuhler 620, semi watercooled if you will. Yeah I probably will do but it's too late tonight to do it (UK time) but for now it seems to be running fine and temps are really good even when usinng Autodesk Maya (49c max, Av 36c).

Quick question, I have set the vdroop to 100%, is this ok?

if i remember msi bios settings correctly 100% = intel vdroop spec, in which case i'd increase this to a higher setting to compensate for vdroop due to the overclock. even @ 1.25 you're far below the 1.35v the most conservative of overclockers recommend for longevity. temps aren't anything special considering your selected speed, but they're well within safe limits so providing you're happy with performance & noise, all is good
