So i was trying to overclock my 2500k (bit late to the party i know) . I raised the core multiplier to 42 and left the base at 100mhz. On running intel burn test , the core temperature spike up to 85 degrees .
I have tried fixed vcore at 1.3v, offset mode as well as auto voltage to no avail.
I use a cooler master hyper tx3 which is pretty basic. But then i am not looking to overclock above 4.2 GHz.
Even overclocking to 4.0 GHz gives massive spikes in core temps upto 83 so i am skeptical about investing in a better cooler for this chip.
Other Specs
ASrock Extreme 4
AMD R9 280X
600W Cooler Master Thunder PSU
8 gig Ram
