Hi, i have an amd a10 7850k system with 8gb of ram and an rx570 4gb. I have another system with an I3 2120 and an asus motherboard p8h61-m. I wanted to upgrade that system to an I5 2500k (that i can get for 30 euro) and i am gonna pair it with the rx570 4gb and with 8GB of ram. I am gonna play on low setting on a 1024x768 monitor (for now). Would it be a good idea? Should i get a different cpu?
Thanks.

Hello!
I'm running a i5-3470 and an RX 570 4GB on the H61 socket, but on the H61 socket I don't recommend getting anything higher than an i7-3770, since most H61 have a 77W CPU TDP limit. Check which CPU's your motherboard supports, and be careful because mine didn't support the i5-2500, i5-2500k, i7 2600k and the i7-3770k...

On such low resolution the i5-2500k & RX 570 are most likely going to bottleneck by quite a lot (the RX 570 is more powerful than the i5-2500k).

You should go for like an i7-2600k (the i7-2600k & the RX 570 should work great together).

Hello and welcome

I would say yes, for 30 euro you'd have a much better system

That being said, it is also an old CPU so don't expect miracles

WHat country are you from?

I am from italy, an I5 3570k cold cost me over 50 euro (if i wanted to go higher). I know that the i5 is and old cpu but it is still capable as i saw.

I bought an adapter that converts hdmi to vga but it doesnt work so im stuck with that monitor (bit it is 75hz) an i7 2600k is still 100 euro, If i can get the adapter to work i could buy the 2500k and I will be good.

I see, i would definitely go for it, if you consider your old amd cpu vs the i5 2500 it's a nice upgrade
And 30 euros is cheap :)
One thing to consider though:
you cannot OC the I5 on that mobo
yea I know, but if I want to get a z motherboard it would be too much. Even on the monitor that I'm on now it would be better, with the a10 it is really laggy, I'm using that monitor because the converter didn't work, my rx570 was used for mining but I don't think it could result in that (the hdmi port are working, only when I put the converter it wouldn't show anything).

In my country, the i7-3770 is also much more expensive than the i5's, so I get where you are coming from. Not going to lie, with an i5 you might experience some CPU bottleneck in a few games, but it doesn't bottleneck the RX 570 (at least on 1080p) in games like FH4 or RDR2.

i saw the cpu support list for my motherboard (asos p8h61-m le r2.0) and it supports it. the i7 3770 it's still expensive. at 1080p the i5 is perfect I think, but I am stuck with a 1024x768 display for now because a hdmi to VGA adapter didn't work. I think it would still be an improvement over the a10. I could save up some money and buy a new monitor to see if the fps would be better with the a10 if not I'm gonna spend those 30 euro for the i5 and get better fps. thank you for the h61 tdp limit advice.

You're welcome!
For an experience with no bottlenecks, you'll have to get both the 1080p monitor and CPU, that RX 570 still has more life in it left than you might think. I had a 720p monitor and changed my CPU and GPU before I bought a new 1080p monitor and I saw an increase in FPS and less 100% spikes from CPU. Wattage wise, I don't see my i5-3470 go above 35W usage under full load, so that 77W TDP limit should be ignored on Intel's website.

thank you. i bought the rx570 1 month ago for 70 euro and it is going strong. I am gonna buy first the 1080p monitor, if the performance are good enough i am gonna stay with the a10, if the performance doesn't change i am gonna buy the i5 or something better.
Thank you all guys for the advices.
