i5 2500k vs i5 3570k

Solution
I would get the 2500k.
As far as gaming goes they are about the same but the 2500K will overclock further (on average)
the 3570k isn't 62 dollars better.

But wait for the other folks to chime in

I live in the Philippines and prices are high here technology-wise. haha. I think everything is more expensive in our country. *Sigh*

you are implying that a 2500k is superior to a 3570k. thats just silly. they may be very close; unrecognizable in gaming even but to say its > (better) is just not true. i would say the difference between the two is like ivy and haswell. which is almost nothing

Yes, that thought came to me after I posted.

The 2500K need just 150/200 more MHz to match the 3570k. But guess what, the 2500k clocks 400/500 MHz higher with less heat. SURPRISE! So, yes 2500K > 3570K. Else, why buy a K series if there is no OC involved, and much more, even compare it. That's just silly.

thats cool and all but the ivy can easily do 4.5-4.6. stock clocks for gaming ivy is 5% faster. like i said not much difference. and heat is irrelevent with a good aftermarket. i know how it is. whatever cpu you own you always want to believe its "better" not always the case. the arguement is a moot point. they are very similar but the older cpu is not "better" than the newer of the same architecture

Well guess what - you own an I5 3570K and I don't own a 2500K. Also the Ivy doesn't easily do 4.6/4.7 on air. Average Ivy chips go 4.4/4.5 (lucky) ones. Those who do 4.7 on air are the same golden chips that 2500K go to 5Ghz. And please fix your math. 5% (lets just say Ivy has 5% average real life increase, although it's lower) over 3.4 GHz is 170. So a Sandy does really need 150/200 MHz to match Ivy and also Clocks 400/500 higher.

P.S Heat is always relevant. Look at the latest "Haswell: 9 coolers tested" article here at Tom's. Ivy bridge is not as severe as Haswell but it is still quite disappointing. At 4.6 Sandy runs as close as 15C less then Ivy with the same cooler.
