I5 2500K Vs I5 4460

i would like to get one of these cpus im getting the i5 4460 on newegg canada for 320 in total and for i5 2500k 300 including 8 gb ram and nocuta cooler
Intel Core i5-4460 3.2GHz Quad-Core, Asus B85M-G R2.0 LGA 1150 Micro ATXIntel
i5 2500k, ASUS P67, 8GB DDR3 1600 and Noctua C14 CPU cooler

If you're willing to go for an aggressive overclock, the i5 2500k will give the higher performance. Also save you some money. Does the i5 4460 come with any RAM, if not then the 2500k is even better value.

the 2500K is a 2nd gen I5 CPU which is really old and if true i am surprised newegg is still selling systems that old.

The 4460 is 10-20% faster per clock, meaning you'd need to overclock the 2500K to 3.8-4ghz to match it. Most 2500K's will reach 4.4-4.6ghz with modest air coolers, so you can expect it to be a little faster.

HOWEVER, the 2500K, overclocked, will draw very significantly more power, and dump more heat into your computer room. It will also be on a much older motherboard that lacks many of the more modern connectors the 4xxx chip has.
