I5 3340 vs i7 3770

My PC:
I5 3340,3.1 GHz
ASUS H61 M-K
Kingston Hyper X Fury Blue 8GB
GALAX GTX 1060 3GB OC

I was planning to get i7 3770,3.4GHz
But my friend told me that I wouldn’t notice a big difference between them in gaming, So I want your advice whether buying the i7 3770 or stay with my i5 3340 and please anyone tell me the difference in FPS between both of them in games with my GTX 1060

Your friend is giving you good advice. Yes, the i7 is a tad faster, but your 1060 is doing the bulk of the work (in most games at least). Save your money for a GTX 2070 (or what ever they call the next fancy GPU).

Most games are fine with a quad core, which you have. In games like these you will see little to no increase in performance. At 1080p some games will be limited by your videocard, no matter what CPU you have, the framerate can only go so high. In games like these you'll see little to no improvement.

Some newer games can take advantage of more than 4 cores/4 threads. An 8 thread i7 would help in these games. Usually the way that works is your minimum framerate won't drop so low with the i7, but your top framerate and average will be about the same. This may or may not be important to you, depending on how sensitive you are to framerate drops.

Finally, the extra threads would be helpful if you wanted to stream your games while you play.

I remembered this review, but was not sure I would find it. They use a 1060 (and 1070 and 1080) with a variety of CPUs and you can see that there is not much difference (a couple FPS). Now with the 1080 it makes more of a difference.
