Some newer games, a small number of games, can use more than a 4 core/4 thread CPU. Battlefield 1 multiplayer is a good example. The game is still playable on 4 threads but it's not smooth. If you play this kind of game, then the i7 would be worth it, depending on how much it cost you.
Also, if you intend to do more than game, such as stream your games, then you'll want the i7.
Otherwise it's the 1060 that controls game performance at 1080p, so the i5 would be fine.
