Hello,

This is my first time posting here and I'm noob when it comes to this stuff. I'll keep it short and simple, I'm looking to build my first computer and this is the build I came up with. Is this sufficient enough to play games on, which is my main focus. Please criticize and help me build a mid-range gaming pc. Thank you.

CPU: Intel Core i5-3450 3.1GHz Quad-Core Processor
Motherboard: ASRock Z77 Extreme6 ATX LGA1155 Motherboard
Storage: Seagate Barracuda Green 1TB 3.5" 5900RPM Internal Hard Drive
Video Card: PowerColor Radeon HD 7870 2GB Video Card
Case: Corsair 300R ATX Mid Tower Case
Power Supply: Corsair Builder 600W 80 PLUS Certified ATX12V Power Supply
Optical Drive: Sony AD-7280S-0B DVD/CD Writer

The cpu cant overclock
the motherboard with the Z77 chipset is designed for that . You could use a board with a B75 or H77 chipset and save

The green hard drive is slow . It saves very little power . Use a WD blue or Seagate instead

Thanks for the info. I'm not too familiar with overclocking so I thought I should stay away from it before I fry the computer or something.

I think any of the Intel quad cores has as much power as a gamer needs without overclocking so thats a wise decision for a first build

But by saving money on the motherboard you can probably get a 3550 , and you may be able to use a small SSD as a cache drive to speed boot and file loading times
