Hello, I'ma buy a new b75 1155 mobo and I would like to go with the cheapest ATX mobo I find, so I found the MSI Z77A-G41 being the cheapest option here in sweden, but it wont allow me to use I5 3470, without upgrading BIOS and I aint got another intel cpu, the I5-3450 on the other hand is supported in first released BIOS. I also dont even like to upgrade the BIOS.

Well, is the I5 3470 and I5 3450 such a big difference? It costs about 15 dollars more for me to get the i5 3470 and then I would need another mobo, which is around 10-15 dollars aswell, and I'm on my budget already.

So, how big is the difference between those?
I heard that the I5 3470 performs almost as the I5 3570K@Stock( Not OC'ed) in games, is it true? And the I5-3450? Is it almost the same?

And does the I5-3450 perform better than FX-8320 OC'ed in the most games? I have am3+ mobo and a hyper 212 evo alrdy but I decided to go with an I5 since FX-8320 seems to be worse in most games than the I5 3570K, and the I5-3450 performs almost as a I5 3570K( @Stock ) does it?

Based on: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Productcompare.aspx?Submit=ENE&N=100007671%2050001157%20600005579&IsNodeId=1&bop=And&CompareItemList=343%7C19%2D115%2D072%5E19%2D115%2D072%2D02%23%2C19%2D116%2D506%5E19%2D116%2D506%2DTS%2C19%2D115%2D234%5E19%2D115%2D234%2DTS&percm=19%2D116%2D506%3A%24%24%24%24%24%24%24%3B19%2D115%2D234%3A%24%24%24%24%24%24%24

You will never see a difference between the two.
.. i5-3470 CPU is 0.1 MHz faster = whooping 3% faster
.. i5-3450 GPU base Freq is 0.05 higher or 4% higher than 3470 - Never notice it, besides irreleavent as you will be using a dedicated GPU, NOT the HD2500 iGPU.

Ok thanks, the I5 3450 it is then, also it'll save me some cash :)

Well, would I5-3450 work good with:

MSI B75A-G41
Gigabyte GTX 660 "Windforce OC"
1x4 GB Corsair XMS3 DDR3 1333MHz CL9 ( CMX4GX3M1A1333C9 )

I think this system will fit good but I cant find the ram on the memory support list of the mobos own webpage, but its DDR3 1333 mhz so it would work anyways? 😛

Good, because I have another RAM stick, exactly the same, just that I had problem reinstalling to 64 bit 😛

The installation is stuck on "Windows-files is expanding (0%)..." or whatever its named at english, I'm from sweden so... But the "..." is moving so the program doesnt freeze, its just that it wont go anywhere, staying at 0 % even thought I let it run a whole night :S

No, tried with only one installed onto the mobo, and its the same thing. "Expanding windows-files (0%)..." or whatever its saying in english, maybe you know what I mean anyways 😛

On installation:
Not sure what HDD you are using.
Did you go into bios and check:
1) HDD control should be set to AHCI (a Must if installing to a SSD, but is also recommended for newer HDD.
2) Verify that your ram was properly recognized and set to 1333 as default ram speed for Ivybridge is DDR3-1600.

Also: Highly recommend that you download Memtest 86 ISO and create a Bootable CD and check memory BEFORE installing OS
Memtest 86: http://www.memtest86.com/
OR better yet download UBCD (Includes memtest along with a ton of other usefull apps)
http://www.ultimatebootcd.com/

Well, the memory aint having problem in games as far as I know, so I guess it aint the memory.
The CDrom, the one you put the CD disc in? Could it possibly be anything with the new HDD I bought not long ago? I purchased it, a new one from store ofcourse, not used. Once I got it, I opened it, puted it into my PC, deleted EVERYTHING on it, created a 500 GB "System" and a 500 GB "Primary", then I tried to install Win 7 64 bit in "System", isn't that the way to go? Maybe my CD disc is scratched or broken, maybe I would burn(Download) a new one, I had that suggestion before.

Wait, what do you mean? I cant use DDR3- 1333 mhz for I5-3450? 😛

Well, I will try all these things once I got the I5 and the mobo, I havent even ordered it yet 😛

First of all, I will check that the HDD control is set to AHCI, as the HDD I bought is pretty new I guess. But I will do this once I get the I5 and the new mobo. Right now I'm on am3+ mobo GA-970A-UD3 😛

Yes, You can Use DDR3-1333 on a IB cpu - I only stated that DDR3-1600 is the default. For Intel's SB CPU the default is 1333.

Normally there is very little performance diff between 1333 and 1600, but then there is normally very little cost difference. In Most reviews I've read, the sweet spot for Both IB and SB is DDR3-1600

Problems with current system and installing windows 7.
On disk partitioning:
..So You have a 1TB drive.
Recommend you partition it 300 Gigs for OS and 700 Gigs for Storage. For Me a 250 gig OS = Programs would be fine.

.. You would be better off doing the Partitioning when you do the installation.
...... Select "Custom" mode. On page showing your HDD select Advanced.
DELETE all partitions found. Then select the Unpartitioned drive to install windows to.
Change the default of using the Entire drive and enter 300 Gigs (Probably have to enter 300000). This will creates a bootable partition of 300 Gigs. The remainder, Just leave UNpartitioned.
Then continue to install windows.
When all is AOK, then use Windows Disk manager to initialize/partition and formate the remaining 700 Gigs.

ADDED: When You get New system, YOU will have to repeat and re-install windows.

I have a feeling I wont succeed with installing windows, maybe I should go with FX-8320? And hope on that the futured games will be made for hyper threading? :S I really wanna go with intel but I'll probably have this re-installing windows problem.. Fuck..

I mean, I gotta re-install windows if I change mobo, that's why I maybe should stay on my am3+ and go with a FX-8320, but I dont wanna do that but maybe I have to, I'd love to have an I5 for gaming, too bad this problem show up.

Na, but I will try to get it on USB and install it that way, just in case the CD disc is broken/scratched and if the CDrom may have problems, if it aint those two, one remains, and its the HDD then, but tried three different HDD's so.. I guess it aint the HDD hodling the problem here 😛

-How big is the windows 7 64 bit? Can I install it with a 7,35GB stick?

Do you know if the mobo MSI B75A-G41 would be able to "USB boot" I mean, boot up on usb? 😛

And do I just get the files onto the USB, the "setup.exe" or whatever its named? Well, is this the way to go?

1. insert USB.
2. Go into BIOS and select Boot by USB.
3. What now? Will I have to open the USB and do manually stuff, or will the windows 7 installation begin itself, without having me do something? I mean, would it run itself just like on a CD?
