I5 3470 but only has 2c2t

Hi, I just upgraded from pentium g2020 to i5 3470(with 750 2gb) but when I play games (bf4),I only got around 35 fps,I checked on msconfig,task manager and cpu z, all showing i5 3470 with 2core 2 thread, only on bios it shows 4core,have tried resetting the bios... No changes,my questions is do I need to do a fresh install of windows?( I have windows 8.1)

Try typing WMIC CPU Get in your CMD and see if that shows differently

It was once the case that factory made computers had firmware that only supported certain processors properly. You have a Dell there perhaps?

IF the CPU is properly ID'd in the BIOS, that would be a good start...indicating BIOS/Hardware support.

However, merely rebooting with a new CPU often does not get the CPU's cores/threads updated in WIndows /Device Mngr correctly...

YOu can try uninstalling the assorted threads in Device mngr/processor, then hitting reset, and let WIndows redetect them, hopefully properly....

Worst case, reset BIOS, reinstall from scratch....

I checked on bios 4c4t but on Windows, 2c 2t, almost finish reinstall windows, will update you soon

HI,apparently my windows is infected with virus soo i reinstall windows and voila problem solved !
